FOCUS AREAS: JOB CREATION
Youth Empowerment | Church Engagement | Job Creation | Community Health

Job Creation.  Creation of jobs is a key focus of the SAHAC initiative because the high level of unemployment and resulting poverty among young people is a significant contributor to the spread of HIV/AIDS.  The Job Creation Focus Area is: 1) promoting the creation and expansion of profitable, growing and sustainable businesses that generate economic turnover in the community; 2) linking these businesses with existing large businesses in the region to provide accelerated growth; and 3) channeling young people into these businesses as entrepreneurs or employees according their skills and passions.

Career Coaching. The Job Creation focus area links with the Youth Empowerment focus area to work with the same young people, providing them with initial aptitude screening and opportunity awareness, and linking them into advanced education, into learnerships with partnering companies, and into entrepreneurial business opportunities.

Business Development and Mentoring. Jobs are created when existing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are healthy and growing. SAHAC helps disadvantaged SMEs and entrepreneurs through Business Forums that provide opportunity information, motivation, and a sense of community with others facing similar problems. Business skills are taught through a proven South African developed Micro-MBA – One-up Business Training programme. Mentor relationships with South African and International business leaders are developed for interested SMEs.
